Details

You are the go-to expert for the SCADA platforms that monitor and control Eneco's energy production, storage, trading, and flexibility assets. You shape the platform's development through architecture decisions, engineering standards, and coaching other engineers. Your work helps keep renewable energy and battery storage reliable, secure, and connected.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure, and maintain SCADA solutions for energy production and flexibility assets.
  • Connect SCADA to automatic generation control (AGC), energy management systems (EMS), and distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS).
  • Build and maintain integrations with battery storage systems, field devices, grid operators, and market interfaces.
  • Define and improve interfaces with trading platforms, asset management systems, OT environments, and data platforms.
  • Lead design reviews and technical assessments, and coach fellow SCADA engineers.
  • Investigate major and recurring incidents, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams on implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Ensure SCADA platforms are available, reliable, secure, and ready to scale.
  • Own the full lifecycle of SCADA applications, interfaces, and infrastructure.
  • Establish engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices for the SCADA domain.
  • Define monitoring, alerting, and observability requirements.
  • Support OT security standards and Eneco policies, including audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability remediation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of SCADA engineering experience, including large-scale implementations and integrations.
  • Experience with business-critical systems in energy, utilities, grid operations, or industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of HMI systems, RTUs, PLCs, telemetry, and real-time monitoring and control.
  • Experience with protocols such as OPC UA, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, Modbus, or MQTT.
  • Experience integrating systems through REST APIs and messaging.
  • Understanding of grid operations and energy systems such as AGC, EMS, DERMS, or battery storage.
  • Comfortable working with Windows Server, Linux, networking fundamentals, and high-availability architectures.
  • Cloud or hybrid environment experience is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, industrial automation, computer science, or a similar field.
  • Ability to remain calm during incidents, communicate technical decisions clearly, and help colleagues develop.

Work Environment

You will work with SCADA engineers, OT specialists, product teams, business colleagues, and external suppliers. The role involves guiding technical decisions across the SCADA domain and supporting the implementation of reliable energy operations systems.

Benefits

  • Gross annual salary between €79,000 and €108,000, including FlexBudget, 8% holiday allowance, and depending on the role, a bonus or collective profit sharing.
  • FlexBudget that can be paid out, used to purchase additional holiday days, or saved.
  • Personal and professional development support.
  • Hybrid working: 40% in the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly.
  • With manager approval, work abroad within approved countries for up to 3 weeks per year, with a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks.
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work from home when the role allows it.
