Details

NVIDIA is pioneering the future of autonomous driving. The Autonomous Driving Perception team develops state-of-the-art perception systems (detection, segmentation, tracking, occupancy prediction) for NVIDIA DRIVE used by automakers, truck makers, tier-1 suppliers, and robotaxi companies worldwide. The role focuses on driving architectural vision for core deep learning models and guiding technologies from research to production.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and innovate modern deep learning architectures (e.g., Transformers and variants, Few-Shot Learning) for 3D obstacle detection, dense occupancy prediction, semantic segmentation, and multi-object tracking.
  • Develop, train, and deploy production-grade deep learning models and features for global automotive customers, ensuring safety and quality standards.
  • Lead corner-case driven development: identify, mine, and solve long-tail edge cases in urban and highway driving environments.
  • Define data strategy and act as technical authority on data quality: establish labeling guidelines, quality-control metrics, and collaborate with data operations for high-fidelity ground truth.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship: influence cross-functional teams (planning, mapping, infrastructure), mentor senior engineers, and set roadmaps for next-generation perception architectures.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of applied research and software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on deep learning for computer vision.
  • Proven track record of shipping commercial, high-quality deep learning software products to end customers.
  • Deep foundational knowledge and hands-on experience building architectures for object detection, occupancy networks, semantic/instance segmentation, and temporal tracking.
  • Strong data intuition and data-centric AI experience: managing large datasets, defining labeling taxonomies, and building pipelines to surface hard examples and edge cases.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.

Ways to stand out

  • Prior experience in autonomous driving or robotics, shipping models deployed on edge compute.
  • Experience with model optimization, quantization, and deployment on embedded platforms (especially NVIDIA TensorRT).
  • First-author publications at top-tier computer vision / ML conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS).
  • Experience designing multi-modal perception systems (camera, lidar, radar fusion).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary ranges provided: Level 4 range: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD; Level 5 range: 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD.
  • Eligible for equity and benefits (see NVIDIA benefits page).

Other information

  • Applications accepted at least until July 12, 2026.
  • NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.
  • NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer and committed to an inclusive work environment.
