Details

NVIDIA's Linux for Edge team develops system software for edge AI platforms used in robotics, autonomous machines, industrial automation, smart cities, and other applications. This role combines deep technical expertise in embedded Linux and platform software with project and program management responsibilities, driving SoC and platform bring-up from concept through high-volume deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SoC and platform bring-up for NVIDIA's newest edge AI platforms, from early prototypes through production, owning the execution plan, achievements, and success criteria.
  • Drive the end-to-end platform Linux software roadmap for edge devices by defining deliverables, prioritizing work, coordinating cross-functional dependencies, and ensuring timely execution.
  • Build, develop, and debug low-level Linux system software, including bootloaders, firmware, BSPs, kernels, device drivers, and reference images for NVIDIA edge AI SoCs and boards.
  • Act as the technical program owner for platform software bring-up. Run execution and bring-up reviews, track issues and risks, maintain schedules, provide status updates, and escalate critical issues.
  • Work with hardware, silicon, board build, validation, and factory teams to root-cause complex hardware/software interaction issues and drive resolutions to closure.
  • Define and develop factory test and provisioning software, automation, and diagnostic tools for high-volume manufacturing and deployment of edge AI systems.
  • Analyze lab, factory, and field logs and data, including failure modes, performance, and reliability data, to improve platform stability, robustness, and test strategy.
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish guidelines for Linux bring-up, debugging, project tracking, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, along with substantial industry experience in system or embedded software.
  • 12 or more years of relevant software development experience.
  • Experience managing SoC or complex board/platform bring-up in a technical lead role, preferably for edge or embedded Linux products and multiple hardware revisions or platforms.
  • Expert proficiency in Linux system and kernel development, with strong C/C++ skills and experience with kernels, device drivers, BSPs, and complete boot sequences on embedded or edge platforms.
  • Deep understanding of CPU and SoC architectures, memory and power subsystems, high-speed interfaces such as PCIe and DDR, and board-level build constraints.
  • Expertise in hardware-aware debugging using JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, in-circuit debuggers, and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Experience supporting factory and manufacturing processes, including ATE, system-level tests, and programming or provisioning flows for embedded or edge devices.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, shell, or similar languages for automation, data analysis, bring-up workflows, testing, and edge platform provisioning.
  • Exceptional project and program management skills, including execution plans, issue trackers, dashboards, schedule management, risk management, and cross-team communication.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and program perspectives and present complex topics to engineering teams and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NVIDIA GPUs or SoCs, Jetson, or similar edge/embedded AI platforms in production.
  • Experience as a platform software execution lead, technical program manager, or in a similar role combining hands-on Linux engineering with program delivery responsibility.
  • Experience in platform validation and reliability testing for high-volume edge or embedded devices.
  • Experience with secure boot, over-the-air firmware updates, and factory provisioning and security procedures.
  • Contributions to tools or frameworks for hardware bring-up, diagnostics, automated test systems, or execution tracking, including dashboards and CI/CD, in Linux-based edge environments.

Benefits

  • Equity and benefits are provided.
  • NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive work environment.
