Details

Coinbase's Data Platform team builds the foundations for storing, moving, managing, and using data at scale, including storage, streaming, data lakes, analytics, and experimentation. The Engineering Manager will lead a team developing reliable data services and privacy and governance capabilities that help teams use data responsibly.

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and grow engineers while supporting their development and career progression.
Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and senior leaders to set a clear quarterly roadmap and deliver it iteratively.
Guide technical decisions and promote high-quality code, sound engineering practices, and reliable distributed systems.
Stay close to the work through design and code reviews, incident leadership, on-call participation, and troubleshooting when needed.
Own processes that improve engineering quality and help the team meet its service-level commitments.
Partner with recruiting to attract and hire strong engineers.

Requirements

7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in data platform or infrastructure, including 2+ years in engineering management.
Experience building, delivering, and operating distributed systems at scale.
Strong engineering judgment and the ability to foster quality, maintainability, and effective development practices.
An execution-focused approach, including the ability to work through ambiguity, balance near-term delivery with long-term planning, and turn complex goals into actionable work.
A hands-on leadership style and willingness to engage in technical work and operational responsibilities.
Experience leading technical change in a large, fast-moving organization.
Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Clear communication, ownership, and a strong customer focus.
Responsible use of generative AI, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

The target annual base salary range, excluding equity and bonus, is ₹9,424,000–₹9,424,500 INR. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, and vision benefits.
