Airbnb is entering a new era of reimagining how fraud, safety, and quality are measured, protected, and elevated across the digital landscape. Reporting to the Director of Advanced Analytics, Fraud & Safety, this role leads a dispersed team of approximately eight advanced analysts responsible for turning safety measurement into governed, self-service decision systems for Policy, Operations, Legal, Product, and Engineering.

The team designs, delivers, and scales analytics for physical and digital safety, connected-account and circumvention detection, privacy protection, and risk management. The role focuses on building systems that help Airbnb anticipate emerging risks, democratize data access, provide always-on fraud and safety scenario simulators, and convert incident impacts into signals for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end analytical workflows for platform safety controls, including data ingestion, feature engineering, modeling, experimentation, and visualization.
• Co-own and drive the enterprise-wide Safety Single Source of Truth (SSoT) strategy, including a unified, structured data asset and taxonomy supporting Product, Operations, Policy, and Legal.
• Ensure metrics are future-proof, privacy-compliant, and globally scalable.
• Build self-service data tools that enable non-technical teams to ask complex questions, run what-if analyses, and generate actionable, data-backed outcomes.
• Create compelling narratives and dashboards that surface insights for executives and cross-functional teams.
• Lead incident war rooms and present fast, actionable insights during high-severity events.
• Contribute to policy design, including connected-account enforcement thresholds.
• Support external audits, law-enforcement requests, and board-level reporting.
• Partner with Policy, Product, Engineering, Fraud and Safety Operations, and Legal to align analytics with global safety and privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Operationalize frameworks that assess and size the platform, reputational, and regulatory impact of safety incidents, enabling rapid escalation, clear retrospectives, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in analytics, risk, or safety.
• 3+ years of experience leading high-performing teams.
• Proven ownership of large-scale data products or taxonomies in a regulated environment.
• Strong SQL and data-modeling expertise.
• Experience with experimentation design and familiarity with Python or R.
• Working knowledge of machine-learning pipelines.
• Understanding of measuring rare platform events with statistical rigor.
• Knowledge of user authentication and connected-account vectors, including social logins and device fingerprinting.
• Knowledge of circumvention tactics, including multi-accounting, listing duplication, and payment abuse.
• Understanding of global privacy and data-protection standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and SOC 2.
• Experience with incident impact scoping, post-incident analytics, scenario planning, or tabletop exercises.
• Track record of enabling legal, policy, operations, product, and engineering teams to make independent, forward-facing, data-driven decisions through self-service tools.
• Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex analytics actionable for varied audiences.

Good to Have

• Experience in marketplace, fintech, or travel and hospitality technology environments.
• Familiarity with real-time decision engines, graph analytics, and anomaly-detection frameworks.
• Experience leading hybrid teams and managing third-party analytics vendors.
• A graduate degree in statistics or a quantitative discipline, such as an MS or PhD.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; some states are excluded.

Compensation

The base pay range is $212,000–$265,000 USD. Actual base pay depends on factors including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
