Senior Data Scientist - Consumer

Reddit's Data Science Team is seeking experienced Data Scientists to partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Business Development teams to build and improve systems that drive user and revenue growth. The role will focus on the Consumer product area and may involve measurement and metrics design, experimentation, causal analysis, deep data analysis, and research.

The successful candidate will be an industry technical leader with a strong technical background, business acumen, and excellent cross-functional stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop action-oriented insights to drive product strategy through observational causal analysis and experiment meta-analysis, and communicate results to stakeholders up to the C-suite.
• Improve experimentation practices by guiding the design, execution, and analysis of A/B tests.
• Create ETLs, tables, dashboards, and other self-service tools that help data scientists and cross-functional partners access and interact with data.
• Design, evaluate, and measure team-level KPIs for quarterly goal setting and demonstrating team impact.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders to gather feedback, share progress, and maintain alignment on business goals and outcomes.
• Mentor junior data scientists and business partners in data science best practices and methods.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research.
• Master's degree holders: 5+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
• Ph.D. holders: 4+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
• Expertise querying relational databases using SQL.
• Programming experience with languages such as R or Python.
• Deep understanding of online experimentation, including A/B testing, causal inference, and statistical techniques.
• Ability to work in innovative, fast-paced environments with a bias toward action.
• Strong technical communication and data storytelling skills, including the ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to address ambiguous and undefined problems by creating an action plan, gathering feedback, and iterating.

The position is US remote-friendly or available at Reddit offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City. The base salary range is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The role may span more than one career level, and final compensation depends on factors including skills and experience.
