Details
NVIDIA is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to join its Client Platform group. The role focuses on software for power management, thermal regulation, and performance optimization on sophisticated SoC-based platforms. The successful candidate will work from architecture through productization and influence engineering teams, SoC partners, ecosystem partners, OEM partners, and internal leadership.
Responsibilities
Technical Architecture and Problem Solving
- Architect and implement SoC power and thermal control software modules.
- Establish the architecture for software addressing power and thermal management on next-generation platforms, incorporating lessons learned from current-generation productization.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex, multi-team power and thermal issues.
- Define software corrective action plans based on SoC and platform findings, and ensure that improvements are incorporated into future product generations.
Program Execution and Power/Thermal Goal Ownership
- Own end-to-end software work addressing power usage and thermal control for a Client SoC product line.
- Drive platform power and thermal goals across the full software stack, coordinating with SoC partner firmware, kernel and driver teams, and OEM-facing software teams.
- Track program-level power and thermal software status, risks, and mitigations.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with engineering leadership.
Multifunctional Leadership and Partner Management
- Serve as the primary software technical interface to SoC partners on power and thermal topics, driving joint architecture decisions and maintaining alignment.
- Collaborate with ecosystem partners on next-generation power and thermal software features.
- Partner with OEM engineering teams to resolve platform-level power and thermal issues.
- Represent the power and thermal software team in leadership reviews, program syncs, and executive communications.
Requirements
- 12+ years of industry experience in system software, including at least 5+ years focused on SoC or platform power management software.
- Deep expertise in SoC, GPU, and CPU power management, including C-states, SoC low-power states, DVFS, power gating, clock gating, and SoC/platform power limits.
- Demonstrated experience owning and delivering power and thermal software goals on a real product, from pre-silicon architecture through post-launch optimization.
- Strong multifunctional leadership skills, with the ability to align engineering teams, SoC and silicon partners, OS and platform vendors, and OEM partners around common goals.
- Proficiency in C.
- Strong background in operating system internals, device drivers, real-time embedded operating systems, and low-level hardware/software interfaces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical tradeoffs to engineering leadership and business partners.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with SoC power and thermal management software.
- Experience with Linux and Windows platform power management.
- Experience with cross-company power architecture partnerships and defining firmware/software power interfaces.
- Familiarity with platform telemetry pipelines for power and thermal monitoring, as well as system-on-chip and battery-life data analysis.
- Strong understanding of rest-of-platform power optimization.
Benefits
- Equity eligibility.
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive work environment.
Applications will be accepted at least until September 14, 2026. The posting is for an existing vacancy.
