Senior Product Designer, Developer Foundations

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

As a Senior Product Designer on the Developer Foundations team within the Developer Product Group, you will shape the end-to-end experience for developers building on Coinbase. The team owns the Developer Portal, including documentation, API dashboards, and onboarding flows that serve as the entry point for external developers integrating with the platform. You will lead design for these critical surfaces, turning complex technical workflows into clear, intuitive experiences that drive developer adoption and success at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for the Developer Portal, spanning documentation, API dashboards, onboarding flows, and self-service tooling.
• Lead design system contributions for developer-facing surfaces, ensuring consistency and scalability across the Portal experience.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Developer Relations to identify friction points in the developer journey and ship high-impact improvements.
• Drive user research and usability testing with external developers to validate design decisions and uncover unmet needs.
• Shape how AI-powered features surface within the Portal, including intelligent search, contextual guidance, and code generation experiences.
• Build and maintain design specifications, prototypes, and interaction patterns in Figma as the source of truth for engineering delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience, including at least 2 years designing developer tools, technical platforms, or documentation experiences.
• Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end design for complex, multi-surface products shipped to production.
• Proven experience contributing to or maintaining a design system, with a portfolio demonstrating systematic, scalable design thinking.
• Proficiency in Figma for design delivery, prototyping, and design system management.
• A track record of integrating user research insights into design decisions, including examples of how research changed a shipped outcome.
• Responsible use of generative AI, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

• Annual base salary range: $180,370–$212,200 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
• Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility.
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
