Details
Anthropic is seeking a Discovery Technical Operations Specialist to build and operate discovery operations, support active litigation and regulatory matters, and help mature the company’s information governance program. The role combines technical operations and project management and involves working with discovery leads, litigation and regulatory counsel, outside counsel, vendors, Security, IT, product engineering, and other cross-functional partners.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate discovery operations across the full Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) lifecycle, including preservation, collection, processing, hosting, review, and production for conventional and novel or AI-specific data types.
- Support the legal hold program, including custodian identification, hold issuance and tracking, periodic re-notification, custodian acknowledgments, and defensible release.
- Support and improve the discovery technology stack, including RelativityOne, in-place preservation and collection tools for Slack, Google Workspace, and internal systems, as well as analytics and review platforms.
- Configure access controls, templates, reusable workspaces, and other discovery platform components.
- Coordinate matter execution, status reporting, and escalations with discovery teams, counsel, vendors, and internal technical teams.
- Partner with Security, IT, and product engineering to instrument new data sources for legal hold and collection and ensure each electronically stored information source has a governed retention, hold, and disposition path.
- Support information governance operations, including retention schedule execution, data classification rollout, defensible disposition workflows, and data inventory maintenance.
- Integrate AI and automation into the EDRM lifecycle through generative-AI-assisted review, advanced analytics, custom Relativity applications, and agentic workflow automation.
- Support active litigation, government investigations, and regulatory inquiries by coordinating workstreams, managing vendor execution, and surfacing operational risks and cost trade-offs to counsel.
- Design and build internal tools for legal holds, preservation, collection, early case assessment, and production workflows.
- Develop dashboards reporting on data management trends and cross-matter discovery status.
Requirements
- Hands-on discovery experience across the full EDRM lifecycle, with ownership of operations on complex matters in an in-house legal department, government agency, law firm, or vendor environment.
- Experience supporting complex discovery operations functions.
- Working knowledge of major discovery platforms, including RelativityOne, administration, search and analytics, AI/TAR workflows, custom application development, and AI workflows.
- Strong understanding of the Federal Rules governing discovery and evidence, electronically stored information preservation obligations, and proportionality, with the ability to translate these obligations into operational workflows.
- Experience operating discovery across modern enterprise data sources, including Slack, Google Workspace, mobile systems, and engineering systems, as well as experience bringing novel data sources under preservation and collection.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to run multiple concurrent matters and programs under tight deadlines.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical discovery and operational concepts to attorneys, executives, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six or more years of hands-on discovery experience across the full EDRM lifecycle.
- Experience establishing discovery operations at a young or rapidly scaling company, particularly involving new types of electronically stored information.
- Experience working with engineering or product teams to define discovery and information governance requirements, prioritize roadmaps, and ship hold-capable and collection-capable features into enterprise tools.
- Hands-on experience integrating generative AI and agentic workflows, such as Claude or Claude Code, into project tracking, status reporting, internal documentation, custom tooling, and script maintenance.
- Technical fluency with engineering teams, infrastructure APIs, AWS, GCP, data pipelines, and version control, with the ability to write, read, or maintain small scripts when useful.
- Experience operating information governance programs at scale, including retention scheduling, data classification, defensible disposition, and data mapping across heterogeneous enterprise data sources.
- Experience applying AI and automation to discovery operations, including generative AI for review, agentic automation, hold tracking, reporting, and documentation.
- Collaborative, hands-on approach with integrity and curiosity about building operational programs in a fast-moving environment.
Education
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. The field of study should be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Benefits
