Details

We are now seeking a Senior Research Scientist for Autonomous Vehicles at NVIDIA. The Autonomous Vehicle Research group conducts basic and applied research on core topics in vehicle autonomy, including agent behavior models, end-to-end AV architectures, AI safety, closed-loop training approaches, and AV foundation models (VLMs, reasoning models, etc.). Lab members are encouraged to publish and open-source work and to transfer research into production systems. Researchers collaborate closely with perception, machine learning, and robotics experts across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cutting-edge techniques in the field of vehicle autonomy.
  • Publish and present original research; speak at conferences and events.
  • Collaborate with other research team members, internal product teams, and external researchers.
  • Transfer and/or open-source developed technology and collaborate with product teams to integrate research into production-level systems.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of relevant research experience in vehicle/robot autonomy.
  • Strong knowledge of theory and practice of vehicle/robot autonomy or a closely related area with interest in applying work to autonomous vehicles.
  • Track record of research excellence with publications in top conferences/journals (examples listed: RSS, ICRA, IJRR, NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, TAC) and other research artifacts such as software projects.
  • Exceptional programming skills in Python; proficiency in C++ and parallel programming (e.g., CUDA).
  • Solid understanding of common machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, research-focused team.

Benefits

  • Base salary varies by location and experience. Provided base salary ranges: 184,000 USD - 299,000 USD (Level 4) and 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD (Level 5).
