Details
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Research Scientist for Rendering and Path Tracing to join its Real-Time Graphics research team. The role focuses on defining the next generation of real-time path tracing, physically based sampling and lighting, denoising, and related systems challenges. The successful candidate will combine rendering theory, practical engineering, statistical advances, and AI techniques to develop innovative solutions and bring research ideas to life in code.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, invent, publish, and productize novel methods to accelerate or improve the quality of path-traced imagery.
- Implement prototypes of research ideas.
- Transfer successful research ideas to NVIDIA product teams.
- Collaborate with NVIDIA researchers, engineers, and external academics.
- Help define team research topics and goals.
- Guide other researchers and interns.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience developing advanced rendering algorithms. This may include a PhD or equivalent experience with a strong publication record, leadership roles on shipped renderers in games or visual effects, or widely respected and referenced public presentations.
- At least 10 years of combined experience as a graduate student, industry or academic researcher, rendering engineer, or applied researcher.
- A track record of high-quality artifacts, such as shipped games, films, or publications and presentations on path tracing, sampling, lighting, or denoising.
- Experience making code performant, efficient, and ideally real-time.
- Deep understanding of rendering theory, sampling, and graphics systems.
- Strong coding skills with knowledge of C/C++, GPU programming models, parallel programming, and Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of and interest in advancing sampling algorithms such as ReSTIR.
- A track record of research ideation or technology transfer of productized research.
- Clear understanding of rendering challenges in games or film.
- Familiarity with GPU operation and its impact on performant code.
