Details

We are looking for a strong engineer to join the DRIVE Road Structure, Online Mapping, and Context Fusion team. You will help shape the future of autonomous driving by developing a complete 3D world model that fuses map and perception signals. You will work closely with perception and planning teams to provide a world model capable of supporting autonomous driving on challenging roads and intersections in the United States and China.

Responsibilities

  • Develop core autonomous-driving functionality for all geographies by fusing state-of-the-art perception deep neural networks and map signals.
  • Generate real-time 3D world models for planning using inputs from sensors and external sources.
  • Enable HD-mapless driving in complex urban scenarios by creating enriched bird's-eye-view models of the environment.
  • Enable Level 3 autonomy in highway scenarios by creating accurate, reliable, and safe world models from camera, lidar, radar, perception, and map signals.
  • Build fused static obstacles, occupancy grids, and occlusion masks to enrich autonomous-vehicle scenarios.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on approaches for solving complex autonomous-vehicle problems while remaining a hands-on collaborator.
  • Mentor engineers on the team.
  • Ensure algorithms perform effectively on large amounts of real and synthetic data across diverse environments and conditions.
  • Produce code and designs that follow automotive quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience, including at least 2 years in the autonomous-vehicle or robotics industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience technically leading areas.
  • Passion for robotics and autonomous vehicles.
  • Motivation to learn new concepts and tackle meaningful problems.
  • Outstanding communication and cross-team collaboration skills, especially with multinational teams across the globe.
  • Independent and analytical software-engineering skills.
  • Software-development experience on embedded or automotive platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in 3D computational geometry, computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, mapping, trajectory optimization, or state-estimation algorithms such as Kalman filters and particle filters.
  • Significant industry experience in autonomous vehicles, especially self-driving cars.
  • Experience developing real-time computer-vision systems.
  • Strong API and framework design skills.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range of $184,000–$287,500 USD for Level 4.
  • Base salary range of $224,000–$356,500 USD for Level 5.
  • Base salary will be determined based on location, experience, and compensation for employees in similar positions.
  • Eligible for equity and benefits.
  • Applications will be accepted at least until May 8, 2026.
  • NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse work environment.
