Details

We are looking for a Senior Software Autonomous Vehicle Control Integration Engineer to work on state-of-the-art autonomous vehicle technologies alongside leaders in AI, deep learning, computer vision, and vehicle control.

The role involves developing, maintaining, and integrating autonomous vehicle control algorithms and software, including vehicle trajectory tracking, model predictive control, and vehicle state estimation. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Prior knowledge of vehicle control, vehicle ECUs, drive-by-wire systems, in-vehicle networks, and autonomous vehicles is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to vehicle dynamics and control development and support related teams in areas such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, urban driving, trajectory planning, vehicle operation limit estimation, and emergency maneuvers, including collision avoidance and mitigation.
  • Design technologies for the autonomous vehicle software stack and write new software modules from scratch to control vehicles.
  • Provide feedback on system architecture, failure modes, system redundancy, and overall product-level system design.
  • Build offline and online performance benchmarks for vehicle control.
  • Define and build tools to tune vehicle dynamics control and manage calibration updates for various vehicle types.
  • Drive the integration of control functionality across different platforms and troubleshoot control and actuation issues in vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain vehicle test suites to detect control integration problems.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality and prevent regressions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, master's, or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 or more years of experience in relevant fields.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with control theory, including at least three of classical control, modern control, nonlinear control, model predictive control, optimal control, robust control, and sliding mode control.
  • Understanding of state estimation techniques such as Luenberger observers and Kalman filters.
  • Ability to develop vehicle models and perform parameter identification and benchmarking.
  • Experience with high-level algorithm design and prototyping in MATLAB, Simulink, or Python, as well as product-oriented implementation in C or C++.
  • Experience with architectural design and software development in C or C++ for real-time embedded control systems, such as vehicle ECU systems.
  • Understanding of testing and verification methodologies for automotive software, including unit-level and system-level testing.
  • Experience integrating, tuning, and validating prototype or production control software with application, driver, and vehicle network layers.
  • Experience developing or using in-vehicle control software verification and calibration tools for autonomous vehicle applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience developing autonomous vehicles or advanced driver-assistance systems, such as lane keeping and adaptive cruise control.
  • Background in automotive safety concepts, failure modes, and analysis tools such as FMEA.
  • Experience developing and launching safety-critical vehicle control system products, such as powertrain, steering, braking, or advanced driver-assistance systems.
  • Understanding of deep learning and neural network concepts.
  • 12 or more years of engineering experience at an automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, or autonomous driving startup.
  • PhD with relevant experience.
