Details
NVIDIA's Embedded Platform Middleware team (NvSci Team) builds foundational system software for safe, high-performance data sharing and synchronization across GPUs, CPUs, and specialized accelerators on NVIDIA DRIVE autonomous vehicle and Jetson robotics and edge AI platforms. The middleware enables safety-certified devices to move data deterministically, securely, and at scale across low-level systems software, safety-critical engineering, and accelerator hardware.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve middleware APIs for buffer sharing, cross-engine synchronization, streaming, and inter-process communication, with a focus on developer experience, simplicity, and long-term maintainability.
- Lead end-to-end feature development that meets automotive safety and security standards, including ISO 26262, ASPICE, and ISO 21434, while aligning with product roadmaps and release cycles.
- Optimize performance in resource-constrained embedded environments.
- Partner with hardware and firmware engineers to co-design solutions that unlock the potential of NVIDIA accelerators.
- Drive technical direction across teams, collaborating with CUDA, graphics, camera, and audio/video framework engineers to simplify system architecture and improve the platform.
- Modernize software development through automation, static analysis, fuzzing, and generative AI tooling to improve reliability, velocity, and scalability.
- Mentor team members, strengthen the team's technical depth, and represent the platform in cross-organizational design discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8 or more years of relevant software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C and modern C++.
- Deep experience with embedded systems and system architecture, including multithreaded software spanning CPUs, accelerators, and heterogeneous chips.
- Strong understanding of operating system internals, including memory management, synchronization primitives, inter-process communication, and drivers.
- Hands-on experience with the Linux kernel, including drivers, subsystems, or kernel-space development.
- Experience delivering safety-critical software using ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 61508, or equivalent certified-software development processes.
- Proven ability to drive solutions from concept to production in cross-functional, distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automotive cybersecurity, including ISO 21434, or ASPICE processes.
- Familiarity with QNX, Integrity, or other real-time operating systems.
- Background in GPU programming, CUDA, Vulkan, or graphics and compute driver stacks.
- Contributions to middleware, hardware abstraction layers, or system libraries at production scale.
- Experience with MISRA C/C++, Coverity, fuzzing, or formal verification.
Compensation and Benefits
- Level 4 base salary: USD 184,000–287,500 per year.
- Level 5 base salary: USD 224,000–356,500 per year.
- Eligible for equity and benefits.
- Applications will be accepted at least until August 6, 2026.
- NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes and is an equal opportunity employer.
