Details

Reddit's Messaging Infra team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to solve large-scale streaming infrastructure and distributed messaging infrastructure problems. The messaging layer receives more than 50 million messages per second, serves 100 GB/s of network traffic, and stores over a petabyte of live topic data across approximately 1,000 brokers. The role involves partnering with engineering teams and major users such as ML, AI, and Search to build scalable, highly available, and reliable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the team's and organization's long-term technical strategy.
Refine and maintain messaging infrastructure that supports asynchronous communication between services serving hundreds of millions of users.
Own managed and self-hosted infrastructure supporting produce and consume requests.
Develop tooling and automation to operate the infrastructure efficiently.
Implement features, optimizations, and bug fixes for distributed messaging systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders in engineering, data science, machine learning, and product.

Requirements

5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably with a focus on machine learning storage infrastructure.
Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Golang, Python, C++, or Java.
Experience working with Kafka and Kubernetes.
Experience with Strimzi is a significant plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position may span more than one career level and may be eligible for commission depending on the position offered.
