Details
NVIDIA is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Object Storage to design, implement, and extend the capabilities of its internal object storage system. This system is a core service critical to NVIDIA AI/ML research teams creating generative AI systems and pioneering world models. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of object storage, outstanding architecture and design skills, and a track record of writing and delivering large-scale storage services.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of the object storage system.
- Develop storage capabilities to support NVIDIA research teams and other users.
- Extend the availability and reliability of deployments at scale, supporting more than 10,000 nodes and exabytes of data.
- Analyze and improve system performance at all levels.
- Automate storage infrastructure end to end, including provisioning, management, and monitoring.
- Make contributions upstream to open-source storage codebases.
Requirements
- Consistent track record of developing object storage services and understanding strategies for addressing data availability, durability, and fault tolerance.
- History of owning product delivery from inception through support.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Prior experience developing distributed systems with Python, Go, C, C++, or similar technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and delivering major components of a distributed storage system deployed at exabyte scale.
- Strong experience with concurrency models and primitives, including threads, event loops, and distributed locking.
- Experience building and delivering cloud services, particularly storage or data systems.
- Sustained contributions to open-source projects.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range is USD 184,000–287,500 for Level 4 and USD 224,000–356,500 for Level 5. Base salary is determined based on location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The role is also eligible for equity and benefits.
