Details
Bloomberg’s Real-time Data group distributes low-latency, high-volume financial, news, and sentiment data to users around the world. The infrastructure handles hundreds of billions of messages per day from more than 370 global exchanges, providing data to Terminal users and enterprise consumers through BPIPEs across on-premises and cloud environments.
The Real-time Data teams are responsible for generating data and managing the infrastructure that delivers it to customers. Given the scale, speed, and business-critical nature of the product, the teams focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Build services, APIs, and workflows using in-house and open-source technologies.
- Develop expertise in distributed architecture and use it to drive infrastructure design for multiple product teams.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, and CTO teams to drive solutions to completion.
- Design and build reliable, well-tested production software.
- Diagnose and resolve live operational issues.
- Help teams plan, prioritize, and deliver complex technical projects.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience building reliable, well-tested software for production systems.
- Confidence diagnosing and resolving live operational issues.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to work across teams and influence peers.
- Comfort and confidence collaborating with peers, partners, and management.
- A track record of helping teams plan, prioritize, and deliver complex technical projects.
- Understanding of fundamental concepts such as compute, storage, and file systems.
- An effective approach to problem-solving.
- Systems and API design skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes.
- Experience with Linux environments and system administration.
- Open-source contributions or participation in technical communities.
Benefits
The salary range is USD 160,000–240,000 annually, plus benefits and bonus.
