Details
NVIDIA is seeking a Senior System Software Engineer to join the Tegra Tools team. The team develops software tools for flashing and provisioning NVIDIA chips and platforms used across automotive, embedded, and data center products. The role covers the full tooling lifecycle, from pre-silicon software development through silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation.
Responsibilities
- Build, optimize, and lead software tools and infrastructure for flashing and provisioning NVIDIA chips and platforms.
- Coordinate the complete tools lifecycle, from pre-silicon development through silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation.
- Develop and maintain host and target software tools for flashing and provisioning workflows.
- Support internal NVIDIA teams and external partners working with NVIDIA platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware build, architecture, firmware, software, and QA teams to define and deliver tooling requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant software development experience.
- Strong C/C++ and Python programming skills, with experience shipping production-quality tools.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and object-oriented programming.
- Knowledge of computer architecture, low-level interfaces, and host-device communication protocols, including USB, UART, SPI, PCIe, and JTAG.
- Understanding of SoC boot sequences, from ROM and bootloader phases through kernel initialization, with the ability to troubleshoot boot failures at multiple stages.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, including experience with GDB and JTAG debuggers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience redefining legacy workflows into agentic workflows.
- Kernel or driver development experience on Linux, Android, or Windows.
- Experience developing bare-metal firmware or device drivers on embedded or SoC platforms.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines for hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Experience building internal tooling with frontend components, such as web dashboards, GUIs, or visualization layers for flash status and workflows.
