Details
GitLab is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join its all-remote R&D Program Management Office. The role owns complex, end-to-end programs supporting GitLab's AI-powered DevSecOps strategy across product, engineering, data, and security teams. The successful candidate will translate strategic vision into executable plans, manage risks and dependencies, align senior stakeholders, and drive predictable delivery of innovative capabilities and technology transformations.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical programs across product, engineering, data, and security, from initial scope through launch and continuous improvement.
- Drive initiatives such as the GitLab Duo Agent Platform, data-intensive developer productivity and analytics platforms, infrastructure modernization, scalability programs, and security and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with executive leaders and senior stakeholders to translate strategy into actionable roadmaps and align priorities and tradeoffs.
- Coordinate distributed teams across time zones through strong asynchronous communication, providing structure, clarity, and regular status updates.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive program plans, proactively identify and mitigate risks and dependencies, and facilitate decisions balancing speed, quality, and customer impact.
- Partner with customer success and cross-functional teams to refine communication plans and operational workflows.
- Champion GitLab's values and culture while fostering collaborative excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Lead complex reliability programs across multiple engineering organizations and serve as an escalation point for highly complex, enterprise-level challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading technical program initiatives in product, engineering, data, or security environments, delivering complex programs from inception through scaled adoption.
- Ability to define strategy and create clarity in highly ambiguous situations.
- Strong background in SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps technology companies, with the ability to quickly learn the GitLab platform and AI/ML initiatives.
- Experience influencing outcomes and driving impact at division-wide and company-wide scale, including impact on market position and revenue.
- Cross-functional leadership experience partnering with engineering, product, and security teams and engaging senior and C-level stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, including asynchronous collaboration, executive reporting, and translating technical complexity into clear business impact.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments with evolving technical requirements and market opportunities.
- Strong facilitation, influence, consensus-building, and stakeholder-management skills, including communication with executive boards and enterprise customers.
- Collaborative leadership style aligned with GitLab's values, including respect, openness to feedback, and commitment to team success.
- Consulting, enterprise technology, or technical leadership backgrounds are welcome, particularly candidates who have owned outcomes and delivered transformational initiatives.
- Ability to shape R&D direction and foster technical excellence across the organization.

The Technical Program Management team is part of GitLab's R&D Program Management Office and drives product, engineering, data, and security initiatives across the AI-powered DevSecOps platform. The distributed team spans North America and Europe and uses asynchronous communication to coordinate across time zones while partnering with executive leaders and stakeholders on business-critical outcomes.
