Stripe's People Systems Team sits at the intersection of technology and human experience. As part of the People Solutions organization, the team partners with Corporate Technology, Finance, Payroll, and the wider People team to build a world-class employee experience.

Responsibilities

Payroll Partnership and Delivery

  • Act as the primary technical partner for the Payroll team, translating business needs into scalable Workday solutions and setting clear delivery expectations.
  • Lead technical configuration for Workday Payroll changes from requirements through implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Lead implementations to onboard new payroll countries, including configuration, testing, and knowledge transfer.

Innovation and Automation

  • Stay current on new Workday Payroll features and assess and pilot them for Stripe's environment.
  • Identify manual, repetitive payroll processes and redesign them using Workday automation, integrations, or agent-based tools to reduce manual effort and errors.
  • Lead product-led strategic projects from discovery through deployment in partnership with People Solutions.
  • Influence stakeholders on Workday and HRIS best practices to deliver scalable and supportable solutions.

HCM Operations Support

  • Provide operational support for Workday HCM and Payroll tickets.
  • Resolve integration-specific issues, data access requests, report-writing tasks, and integration errors and warnings.
  • Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex HCM, Payroll, and security issues.
  • Develop Workday configurations, dashboards, and custom reports as part of day-to-day project work.

Governance and Collaboration

  • Partner with Payroll, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to manage payroll compliance controls, including SOX ITGCs, segregation of duties, ACA reporting, multi-state tax nexus, FLSA rules, provincial obligations, leave laws, annual access certifications, EEO-1/VETS-4212 filings, and T4/ROE year-end processes.
  • Share knowledge with teammates and escalate risks and roadblocks early.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in HRIS or People Systems, including at least 3+ years of deep configuration experience with Workday HCM, Reporting, Time and Absence, and Payroll modules.
  • Experience working with highly confidential information and supporting critical business operations and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to set clear expectations with senior stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects while navigating ambiguity and high-pressure timelines.
  • Deep understanding of payroll processing, payroll calculations, costing, retro payroll, reconciliations, payroll auditing, and payroll security.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday certifications in Payroll for the United States and Canada.
  • Understanding of EIBs, Studio, or Core Connectors for data flow between Workday and third-party vendors.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday automation tools, AI-driven features, or agent-based capabilities, such as Workday Illuminate or Extend.
  • Experience supporting Workday Payroll implementations in new countries.
  • A low-ego, high-talent approach and an ability to bring order to complexity.
