About the Role
We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with customers and ensure successful Teleport deployments. You will meet regularly with customers, understand deployment-blocking pain points, and remove roadblocks. This includes writing and fixing Infrastructure as Code deployments such as Helm charts, developing workarounds, and writing Go code to fix bugs and implement small features.
For more complex issues, you will work with customers to articulate the problems they are trying to solve, gather requirements, and make the business case to product and engineering teams for investment in resolving those issues.
Responsibilities
- Work at the intersection of product, engineering, and revenue while remaining part of the engineering team.
- Solve problems involving networking, performance, security, and integrations with existing systems.
- Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code deployments, including Helm charts.
- Develop workarounds and write Go code to fix bugs and implement small features.
- Work directly with customers and meet with them regularly.
- Gather requirements and communicate customer problems to product and engineering teams.
- Write mostly open-source code.
- Travel to customer sites as needed.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites.
- Infrastructure as Code experience with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
- Linux systems engineering experience.
- Experience with Go or Rust.
- Comfort changing areas of focus and working directly with customers in a startup environment.
