Details

The Monetization team is a cross-functional group spanning engineering, product, research, and design. The team is building privacy-preserving monetization products, including next-generation advertising experiences, in a greenfield environment focused on prototyping, experimentation, and iterative deployment at global scale.

The role focuses on building integrity systems that keep advertising products safe, trustworthy, and resilient to abuse. The engineer will design infrastructure to detect and prevent harmful, deceptive, fraudulent, or policy-violating advertisements and advertiser behavior across risk signals, detection and enforcement platforms, review tooling, adversarial resilience, advertiser controls, and integrity measurement.

This role is based in San Francisco and offers relocation assistance to eligible employees.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build real-time and offline systems to detect harmful, deceptive, fraudulent, or policy-violating ads, advertisers, creatives, and landing experiences.
  • Develop scalable risk-signal pipelines, rules and model-serving infrastructure, decision systems, and enforcement workflows across the advertising lifecycle.
  • Build advertiser-verification, account-risk, abuse-prevention, and fraud-detection capabilities.
  • Create review and investigation tools that support fast, consistent, and explainable decisions.
  • Design feedback loops, labeling systems, and integrity metrics that improve detection quality while managing false positives and user impact.
  • Partner with Ads Delivery and Ads ML to integrate integrity checks into retrieval, ranking, auctions, pacing, and ad serving while maintaining reliability and low latency.
  • Engineer resilient systems that adapt to changing adversarial tactics and support safe experimentation and incident response.
  • Define the technical strategy and roadmap for ads integrity across the monetization stack.
  • Operate systems with strong testing, observability, auditability, privacy, security, and operational practices.
  • Collaborate with Ads Delivery, Ads ML, Product, Research, Safety, Policy, Privacy, Legal, Security, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, ideally in ads integrity, trust and safety, anti-abuse, fraud, security, risk, or a related domain.
  • Experience with adversarial systems and detection, decisioning, enforcement, verification, or investigation capabilities.
  • Experience combining rules, heuristics, machine-learning signals, human review, and feedback loops in production systems.
  • Ability to reason about precision and recall, false positives, explainability, auditability, appeals, and the operational effects of automated enforcement.
  • Experience building low-latency, high-throughput services or data pipelines with demanding reliability, correctness, privacy, and security requirements.
  • Ability to partner with policy, operations, legal, safety, security, product, and machine-learning teams on ambiguous and sensitive problems.
  • Holistic understanding of threat models, architecture, data quality, observability, user impact, and advertiser trust.
  • Ability to define technical direction in an ambiguous 0-to-1 environment and independently drive complex cross-team work.
  • Clear communication and technical decision-making grounded in safety, fairness, system health, and long-term ecosystem quality.

Benefits

  • Equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
  • Pre-tax Flexible Spending Accounts and commuter benefits.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave.
  • Paid time off, company holidays, office closures, and sick or safe time.
  • Mental health and wellness support.
  • Employer-paid basic life and disability coverage.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
  • Daily office meals and eligible meal delivery credits.
  • Relocation support for eligible employees.
