Details
Glean is seeking a Cloud Deployment Software Engineer to join its Platform Infrastructure team. The team focuses on customer setup and deployment across complex cloud, hosting, and security environments. You will build systems that bootstrap cloud accounts and projects, connect authentication, and turn deployment workflows into reliable, repeatable productized experiences for customers.
This role is suited to a backend engineer who enjoys cloud infrastructure, networking, infrastructure as code, and solving deployment problems through clean software abstractions.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve systems that automate customer setup and deployment across cloud environments.
- Develop deployment workflows and infrastructure-as-code templates that mirror customer environments and reduce manual setup work.
- Improve support for complex deployment scenarios, including BYO-VPC, customer-managed keys, air-gapped environments, and custom-region deployments.
- Work on cloud account and project bootstrapping, authentication wiring, proxy and private networking, and deployment orchestration.
- Partner with Platform, Security, Product, and customer-facing teams to make deployments faster, safer, and easier to operate.
- Improve the quality, reliability, and coverage of AWS and GCP deployment tooling over time.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in platform, infrastructure, or cloud-focused roles.
- Solid backend engineering fundamentals and the ability to work across infrastructure-heavy systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure in AWS and GCP.
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Strong networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, routing, proxies, and private connectivity.
- Experience building or improving deployment automation, onboarding workflows, internal cloud platforms, or customer-environment setup systems.
- Ability to balance engineering rigor with pragmatism and turn complex setup problems into repeatable, productized systems.
- Clear communication, effective cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to take ownership in an evolving environment.
Location
- Hybrid role requiring four days per week in the San Francisco office.
Compensation & Benefits
- Standard base salary range: $200,000–$270,000 annually.
- Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation, equity, and benefits.
- Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
- Generous time-off policy and 401(k) plan.
- Home office improvement stipend.
- Annual education and wellness stipends.
- Regular company events and healthy lunches daily.
Interview Process
As part of the interview process, candidates will complete a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion covering how they think about, design, and use AI to drive impact in their role. Prior Glean experience is not required.
