Details

Reddit’s Safety and Moderation organization builds detection, automation, and tools that help keep the platform safe, healthy, and scalable in accordance with Reddit Rules. The team focuses on proactive detection of platform-violating content and users so appropriate corrective action can be taken.

This role involves using applied machine learning to improve automated detection and enforcement. The engineer will work across systems and product surfaces to drive technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution.

Responsibilities

Work cross-functionally with product, data science, operations, and engineering teams to execute product and business strategy for platform safety.
Contribute to the full development cycle, including ideation, technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
Review code and design documents and help shape the product and technical roadmap.
Lead a team of engineers and establish standards that improve developer workflows.
Recommend best practices and coach and mentor engineers in their professional development.
Innovate on new solutions and continuously improve technical and non-technical abilities.

Requirements

8+ years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
Entrepreneurial spirit, self-direction, innovation, and a bias toward action in fast-paced environments.
Ability to build new products and thrive in ambiguity and failure.
Experience partnering effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment.
Ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
Applied machine learning experience for a product or business solution is a bonus.

Compensation

The base salary range is $217,000–$303,900 USD. The role is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, may be eligible for commission.
