Details

Reddit’s Ads Data Science team uses data to maximize advertiser value through robust data foundations, metrics, strategic insights, experimentation, and machine learning. The team works on ads and platform measurement, campaign and creative management, advertiser growth and retention, monetization, and brand and community engagement.

This role owns a high-impact problem space within advertising, specializing in measurement, identity, and signal quality. The Staff Data Scientist will influence strategic direction, set a high technical bar, and drive cross-functional initiatives across critical areas of the Ads organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and employ probabilistic models for identity resolution, linking on-platform and off-platform actions while maximizing addressability and honoring privacy.
  • Own the statistical rigor behind Reddit’s Brand and Conversion Lift products.
  • Innovate experimental design and develop infrastructure supporting large-scale, high-velocity, low-bias testing for advertisers.
  • Define strategies for new signal sources, mathematically quantify their value, and work with modeling teams to incorporate them into predictive models to improve bidding efficiency and return on advertising spend (ROAS).
  • Design objective functions and ground-truth sets for training models and measuring the incremental impact of Reddit’s identity graph.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and sales teams to align on strategic goals, translate insights into action, and drive execution.
  • Mentor others and champion best practices across modeling, experimentation, and measurement.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Operations Research.
  • Master’s degree holders: 10+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
  • Ph.D. holders: 6+ years of industry experience in applied science or data science roles.
  • Deep understanding of the advertising ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas:
    • Measurement and experimentation at scale, with a focus on lift and attribution.
    • Identity graph creation, resolution methodology, and infrastructure.
    • Predictive modeling with signal loss.
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical programming using Python or R and SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning or optimization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of experimental design, causal inference, or A/B testing methodologies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills, with experience influencing product and engineering partners.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with cross-functional teams.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits and income replacement programs.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Global benefit programs supporting workspace, professional development, and caregiving.
  • Family planning support.
  • Gender-affirming care.
  • Mental health and coaching benefits.
  • Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off.
  • Generous paid parental leave.
  • Equity in the form of restricted stock units may be available, and some positions may also be eligible for commission.

The position is US remote-friendly. The base salary range is $217,000–$303,900 USD. Interviews for select roles and locations may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized by artificial intelligence, with the option to opt out before scheduled interviews.
