Details

Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff Product Designer to join the Product Design organization and focus on designing practical and effective user experiences for Grafana’s Incident Response & Management (IRM) solutions. This is a remote position; Grafana Labs is looking for candidates in the US and Canada (East Coast US/Canada preferred, open to other time zones for exceptional candidates). The role will work within a 100% remote R&D organization and requires strong, proactive remote communication, collaboration, facilitation, and relationship building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design user experiences for IRM products that help engineers, SREs, and their agents detect, respond to, and learn from incidents across multiple touchpoints (desktop and mobile web, native mobile, Slack, Teams, MCP integrations, and agentic harnesses like Claude Code and Codex).
  • Work with peers and leaders across engineering, product management, technical writing, go-to-market, and product design to iterate on and improve products.
  • Document user needs, pain points, design directions, trade-offs, and detailed designs using product design and visual communication tools, including agentic tooling such as Figma Make, Cursor, and Claude Code where it adds value.
  • Plan and execute formative and evaluative research initiatives in partnership with researchers, cross-functional collaborators, and lead customers (e.g., Customer Advisory Board and Design Partnership Program).
  • Provide pragmatic, cohesive, and highly scalable design solutions that balance business, customer, and user needs while considering technical constraints.
  • Develop deep expertise in the product area and customer/user personas, and contribute to the evolution of the Product Design team by coaching and mentoring other designers, collaborating on internal initiatives, and helping evolve ways of working.

Requirements

  • Experience designing for developers, SREs, and other highly technical users.
  • A portfolio of well-articulated design work that influenced business goals, metrics, or KPIs for complex and data-rich developer tooling and/or enterprise SaaS products.
  • Ability to make design decisions that balance business goals, product priorities, customer feedback, research insights, and technical considerations.
  • Ability to deliver pragmatic, cohesive, and scalable design solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations and time zones to iteratively ship and evolve products while maintaining the design vision.
  • Experience working in a fully-remote, fast-paced environment with transparency, autonomy, and open sharing.
  • Desire to seek diverse perspectives, aim for progress over perfection, follow through on commitments, support peers, and mentor new hires.

Bonus (optional)

  • Experience designing developer or SRE tools for critical cloud infrastructure, security, or other high-stress use cases.
  • Experience designing cross-platform experiences across web, desktop, mobile, CLI, API and MCP integrations, and agentic harnesses.
  • An understanding of incident response scenarios/practices related to observability, cloud infrastructure, database monitoring, cyber security, or similar domains.

When you apply

  • Provide an example of a successful software product that addresses incident response management or similar use cases, and briefly explain what you believe makes it effective.

Compensation & Rewards

  • In the US, the base compensation range for this role is $162,000 - $202,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed in the interview process. Benefits include equity, bonus (if applicable) and other benefits listed by Grafana Labs. Compensation ranges are country specific; recruiters will discuss market-specific pay ranges for applicants outside the listed locations.

Additional notes

  • Grafana Labs is a 100% remote company with global team members. The company emphasizes an open-source culture, transparency, and collaboration. In-person onboarding is provided.
