About the role
Anthropic's Verticals team builds AI products purpose-built for specific industries — financial services, science, healthcare, and the broader enterprise. Many teams are being built 0→1; you'll shape product and architecture in markets where there is limited precedent. Where products are further along, they are live with enterprise customers and growing.
The company is hiring Staff+ Software Engineers to build products that bring Claude into financial services, science, healthcare, and enterprise AI workflows. The role is a technical leadership position, partnering directly with research to push model capabilities into production and owning end-to-end delivery.
About the teams
- Claude for Financial Services: products for investment banking, asset management, insurance, and corporate finance; work focuses on integrated experiences within existing tools and operating close to research and enterprise customers.
- Claude Science: an AI workbench for scientists (product live and expanding fast); engineering will drive growth.
- Claude for Healthcare: focus on payer workflows (claims, prior authorization, utilization management, member communications) with groundwork for clinical applications over time.
- Enterprise AI Products: building plugins, skills, shared organizational context, and foundational systems for deployment at scale (user and permissions management, security and compliance features, analytics infrastructure).
Responsibilities
- Own technical design and delivery for a core piece of a vertical or enterprise product, end-to-end across the stack
- Work closely with research to improve models in your domain — shaping evaluations, surfacing failure modes, and feeding customer learnings back into model development
- Partner with product, design, and go-to-market to turn enterprise customer workflows into shipped product
- Set technical direction and standards for the team — architecture, code quality, and engineering practices
- Work directly with enterprise customers and sales during key conversations and translate learnings into engineering priorities
- Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with 2+ years at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level
- Experience leading design and delivery of complex enterprise or B2B products across the full stack
- Experience building AI products and turning model capabilities into applications people actually use
- Comfortable working directly with enterprise customers and translating that into technical decisions
- Experience building products from 0 to 1 in fast-moving environments and setting technical direction with limited precedent
- Ability to drive cross-team alignment and ship impactful work with influence
Strong candidates may also have
- Experience working with research to improve domain-specific model capabilities, including evaluation frameworks
- Deep domain knowledge in one of: investment banking, asset management, insurance, corporate finance, scientific research or computational biology, clinical operations/health systems/payers, or enterprise platform work
- Exposure to both product-led growth and direct enterprise sales
Compensation
Annual Salary: $405,000 - $485,000 USD
Logistics
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Required field of study: a field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
- Minimum years of experience: will correlate with internal job level requirements
- Location-based hybrid policy: staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time (some roles may require more office time)
- Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and will make reasonable efforts to obtain a visa when an offer is made
