Details
Reddit is seeking a Staff Threat Analyst to serve as the operational architect for Advertiser Fraud within Safety. The role owns the strategy, foundational detection playbooks, and enforcement frameworks for protecting Reddit’s advertising ecosystem, advertisers, and users from bad actors. This is a remote-friendly, 0-to-1 opportunity involving close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations teams across the Safety and Ads organizations.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute a multi-quarter vision for advertiser fraud detection and enforcement.
- Prioritize high-impact risks, including account takeover (ATO), payment and billing fraud, cloaking, deceptive ads, and network abuse.
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into complex, multi-entity fraud networks and sophisticated adversarial tactics.
- Drive root-cause analysis and map cluster infrastructure to prevent recurring abuse.
- Partner with Data Science and Engineering to translate investigative findings into high-precision detection logic, risk scores, and automated enforcement pipelines.
- Serve as the primary Safety subject-matter expert for Ads Product, Ads Engineering, and Policy teams.
- Align cross-functional teams on shared risks and synthesize complex adversarial dynamics into strategic guidance for senior leadership.
- Design, document, and standardize operational playbooks, escalation frameworks, QA standards, and feedback loops for investigative and enforcement pathways.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in threat intelligence, ad tech safety, trust and safety investigations, or platform integrity, with a focus on ad fraud, financial crime, account takeover, or spam abuse.
- Demonstrated 0-to-1 experience operating in ambiguous environments and building threat response frameworks.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or R, as well as big data environments, to independently query petabyte-scale datasets and construct adversarial network graphs.
- Experience using AI and large language models as investigative copilots and partnering with machine learning teams to deploy LLM-based detection classifiers.
- Deep functional expertise in digital advertising ecosystems, ad-serving infrastructure, and ad-specific fraud archetypes.

Compensation
The base salary range is $167,500–$234,500 USD. The position is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, may be eligible for commission. Reddit provides additional benefits to U.S.-based employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) program with employer match, vacation, and parental leave. Final offer amounts depend on factors including skills, depth of experience, and relevant credentials.
