Bloomberg's Data team delivers data, news, and analytics through innovative technology. The ESG data team enhances ESG content for Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products, including company-reported and normalized metrics, industry-specific metrics, proprietary ESG scores, climate data, and regulatory data.

The Climate Data Team is seeking a Team Leader to lead and grow a high-performing team of climate and nature subject matter and data management experts. The role involves developing team expertise, expanding coverage, ensuring data quality and timeliness, and collaborating with product and engineering teams to generate business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large and sophisticated data projects related to climate and nature datasets.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Bloomberg New Energy Finance, Bloomberg Intelligence, Sales, and other internal partners across global teams and regions.
  • Recruit, coach, and mentor climate and nature data management experts.
  • Evolve workflows and operating procedures to ensure data quality and timeliness.
  • Drive innovation across people, products, and processes.
  • Ensure data governance is central to data products.
  • Represent products by visiting clients and participating in industry events to promote data products and understand client workflows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in climate science, climate finance, or climate policy.
  • Experience building relationships and delivering outcomes with cross-functional stakeholders across global teams and regions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of how industry players use climate data to drive business decisions.
  • Foundational knowledge and application of data management to address business problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Mathematics, an MBA, or a related field.
  • CFA or CAIA designation.
  • ESG-related coursework or certification and a solid understanding of the ESG market and data landscape.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as QlikSense.
  • Experience using programming languages such as Python to analyze large datasets.
  • Working knowledge of managing data models.
