Details

The AI team builds and deploys GenAI applications at scale, including voice agents for contact centers, AI lending assistants, and agentic workflows. As AI Tech Lead, you will set the technical direction across these initiatives while remaining hands-on with implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for GenAI solutions across banking use cases, including Voice AI, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and document intelligence.
  • Drive initiatives end-to-end through a complex organisation by aligning stakeholders, unblocking teams, and making technical decisions.
  • Co-create use cases with business counterparts and shape solutions around business problems.
  • Design and write complex or critical parts of the implementation when required.
  • Own architecture and technical quality across multiple workstreams, including trade-offs, patterns, and standardisation.
  • Work with agents, large language models, code, Databricks, and other appropriate tools.
  • Raise the team's technical capabilities through code reviews, design reviews, knowledge sharing, and coaching of mid-level and junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading the technical side of AI or software initiatives end-to-end, including architecture, technical decisions, and production delivery.
  • Experience building and deploying AI applications using LLMs, RAG, agents, fine-tuning, Voice AI, or equivalent technologies at production scale with real users.
  • Strong Python development skills, with experience writing production software.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure; Azure is preferred, while AWS and GCP are also acceptable.
  • Experience operating in a complex organisation and delivering results across teams.
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle ambiguous problems, set direction, communicate decisions clearly, and work effectively with engineers, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Genuine interest in the GenAI field and evidence of independently built tools, projects, or contributions.

Working Environment

You will join a 25-plus-person AI team within ABN AMRO's Innovation department. The team operates with a startup mindset within a large bank, with fast feedback loops, direct access to business leadership, and real deployments at scale. The role is based in Amsterdam with hybrid working.

  • Flexible home working by agreement with the team, including an ergonomic home office setup.
  • Five weeks of vacation per year, plus two mandatory days off, with the option to purchase up to four additional weeks annually.
  • Five additional days off for personal development or volunteer work.
  • Development budget of €1,000 per year, which can accumulate up to €3,000.
