Details

The AI team builds and deploys generative AI applications for one of the Netherlands' largest banks, including voice agents, AI lending assistants, agentic workflows, and other production-scale solutions. The role involves building AI applications end-to-end and working directly with business stakeholders to solve real-world problems.

Responsibilities

Design and implement generative AI solutions across banking use cases, including Voice AI, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and document intelligence.
Co-create use cases with business counterparts and understand the underlying business problems.
Own the full development cycle: experiment, build, deploy, monitor, improve, and scale.
Work with agents, large language models, code, Databricks, and other appropriate tools.
Contribute to technical quality through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and coaching junior colleagues.
Build solutions across a range of engineering areas, from backend and frontend development to LLM and agentic AI applications.

Requirements

2–5 years of experience building AI applications; the vacancy also lists 5+ years as a preferred experience indicator.
Proven experience building and deploying AI applications using LLMs, RAG, agents, fine-tuning, Voice AI, or equivalent technologies.
Production-level Python development experience.
Experience with cloud infrastructure; Azure is preferred, while AWS and GCP are also acceptable.
Experience shipping products that were used by real users, with the ability to discuss what worked and what did not.
An inventive approach and entrepreneurial attitude.
Ability to move from an idea to a working product with limited supervision.
Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to people without the same technical context.
Genuine curiosity about the generative AI field and evidence of independent learning through tools, projects, contributions, or experiments.

Working Environment

You will join a 25+ person AI team within ABN AMRO's Innovation department. The team operates with a startup mindset inside a large bank, with fast feedback loops, direct access to business leadership, and real deployment at scale. The role is based in Amsterdam and uses hybrid working.
