Role overview

You will join the Beneficial Deployments team as an Applied AI Engineer. The role uses deep technical expertise to help partners accelerate impact through advising on evaluations, improving harnesses, prototyping agents, and building ecosystem-level tooling and infrastructure to scale impact beyond individual partnerships. The role includes hands-on engineering, advising, and creating scalable technical content.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a deep technical partner to mission-driven organisations: advise on evals, agent architectures, context engineering, cost optimisation, and more
• Provide hands-on support to partner engineering teams via pair programming, prototyping, and code contributions
• Develop public-goods infrastructure that benefits ecosystems through benchmarks, MCPs, and Agent Skills
• Identify challenges unique to social-impact partners and contribute findings back to product, engineering, and research teams
• Create technical presentations, demos, documentation, tutorials, and sample code to accelerate partner adoption and self-service
• Help shape team processes and culture as the team scales
• Travel occasionally to customer sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building

Requirements / Qualifications

• 4+ years as a Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or technical founder
• Production experience building LLM-powered applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale
• Demonstrable product shipping experience and credibility with technical founders and engineering teams
• Experience working in ed-tech, healthcare, scientific research, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organisations (understanding their constraints)
• A strong interest in teaching, mentoring, and helping others succeed
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats, building from scratch, and driving clarity in ambiguous situations
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Compensation

• Annual Salary: £240,000 - £255,000 GBP

Logistics

• Location: London, UK
• Location-based hybrid policy: staff expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time (some roles may require more)
• Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and will make reasonable efforts and retain an immigration lawyer to assist, though not guaranteed for every role/candidate
• Minimum years of experience: will correlate with internal job level requirements for the position
