Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. As part of Anthropic’s growing investment in building capabilities for drug discovery and development, this role will accelerate research by identifying where AI can have the greatest impact and turning those insights into concrete results.

Responsibilities

Identify and prioritize the areas where AI can most meaningfully accelerate life sciences research
Turn promising scientific ideas into concrete, well-scoped efforts and see them through with speed and ownership
Translate ambiguous scientific questions into structured, testable plans with clear milestones
Work hands-on with Claude and Claude Science to explore hypotheses, design and analyze research, and show what's newly possible
Partner across research, product, and go-to-market to shape strategy and bring scientific work to life
Serve as a trusted scientific voice, communicating clearly with both technical and business audiences

Requirements

Strong scientific and operating background with direct experience taking ideas from concept to results in a company setting (MD/PhD not required)
Professional experience in a multidisciplinary role at a high-growth life sciences company or a leading science-focused investment or venture firm
Experience founding or joining as a founding team member of a biotechnology startup
Excellent scientific taste and entrepreneurial instinct with a track record of identifying and capitalizing on opportunities
Ability to execute independently: senior judgment combined with hands-on capability
Comfortable moving fluidly between scientific and business contexts

Preferred Qualifications

7+ years of direct experience taking ideas from concept to results in a company setting
Comfort navigating ambiguity and building in a fast-moving, frontier environment

Compensation

Annual Salary: $300,000 - $320,000 USD

Logistics

Location: San Francisco, CA
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Correlates with internal job level requirements
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, staff are expected to be in one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the time (role-level expectations may vary)
Visa sponsorship: Anthropic states they do sponsor visas and retain immigration counsel, though sponsorship is not guaranteed for every role/candidate
