Anthropic is seeking an entrepreneurial biotech operator to help accelerate drug discovery and development. The role combines scientific judgment, operational expertise, strategic direction, and hands-on work with Claude and Claude Science to explore hypotheses, design and analyze research, and demonstrate new possibilities for scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize areas where AI can meaningfully accelerate life sciences research.
  • Turn promising scientific ideas into concrete, well-scoped efforts and execute them with speed and ownership.
  • Translate ambiguous scientific questions into structured, testable plans with clear milestones.
  • Work hands-on with Claude and Claude Science to explore hypotheses, design and analyze research, and demonstrate new capabilities.
  • Partner with research, product, and go-to-market teams to shape strategy and bring scientific work to life.
  • Serve as a trusted scientific voice for technical and business audiences.

Requirements

  • Strong scientific and operating background with direct experience taking ideas from concept to results in a company setting; an MD or PhD is not required.
  • Professional experience in a multidisciplinary role at a high-growth life sciences company or a leading science-focused investment or venture firm.
  • Experience founding or joining a biotechnology startup as a founding team member.
  • Excellent scientific judgment and entrepreneurial instinct, with a record of identifying and capitalizing on compelling opportunities.
  • Ability to execute independently, combining senior-level judgment with hands-on building ability.
  • Strong scientific and business literacy, with the ability to move fluidly between both areas.
  • Preferred: 7+ years of direct experience taking ideas from concept to results in a company setting.
  • Preferred: Comfort navigating ambiguity and building in a fast-moving, frontier environment.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Required field of study: A field relevant to the role, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Work Policy
