Details

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Finance Systems team builds and owns the infrastructure that powers the quote-to-cash lifecycle—from pricing and billing through revenue recognition and financial close. As the revenue model grows in complexity, the team is building homegrown, production-grade financial applications and integrations.

About the role

You will join Anthropic’s Finance Systems team in San Francisco as a hands-on engineer who configures and extends third-party platforms (Zuora, Stripe, Tesorio) and designs, builds, and owns full-stack applications and integrations that sit on top of them. You will write production Python, Node.js, and React code, author Workato recipes and API integrations across the SaaS stack, administer and tune systems, and ship working software. The role sits at the intersection of software engineering and finance and requires building and configuring tools used by Accounting, Revenue Operations, and Order Management teams with attention to SOX and ASC 606 requirements.

The initial work includes owning and evolving a homegrown ledger application and integrations to Workday, NetSuite, Zuora, Stripe, Tesorio, and Salesforce, then building next-generation finance tooling (self-serve workflows, automated reconciliation, operational surfaces).

Responsibilities

  • Own architecture, development, and maintenance of internal finance applications and the configuration/administration of third-party platforms (Zuora, Workday, Tesorio).
  • Build and maintain integrations across the finance stack: Zuora, Stripe, Workday, NetSuite, Salesforce, Tesorio, BigQuery, and billing applications.
  • Design integrations that are auditable, observable, and recoverable to meet SOX compliance rigor.
  • Automate manual, error-prone month-end close workflows with tested, production-grade solutions.
  • Partner with Accounting, Revenue Operations, and Order Management to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs, and build those solutions yourself.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, data flow diagrams, and runbooks so Finance can operate systems without engineering dependency.
  • Contribute to continuous delivery infrastructure for reliable, frequent shipping of Finance systems.
  • Instrument the Finance stack with observability tooling to detect pipeline failures before accountants do.
  • Become a domain expert for one or more areas of the revenue systems stack within six months.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of engineering experience and comfortable owning full-stack builds from architecture through production deployment.
  • Proficient in Python and JavaScript/Node.js; React experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience building and maintaining system integrations (REST APIs, event-driven pipelines, ETL) in production.
  • Experience with BigQuery, Postgres, or similar data platforms; comfortable writing SQL for analysis, debugging, and reconciliation.
  • Business context to ask the right questions of Finance stakeholders; attention to correctness (you don’t need to be an accountant).
  • Comfortable working directly in systems—configuring, troubleshooting, and building solutions rather than only managing vendors.
  • Able to work in ambiguous problems and build solutions from scratch.

Strong candidates may also have

  • Experience with Workato, MuleSoft, or similar iPaaS platforms.
  • Technical experience with Zuora, CPQ, NetSuite, Workday, or Stripe.
  • Experience building SOX-compliant systems or supporting external audits for financial systems.
  • Understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition or consumption-based billing models.
  • Experience at high-growth tech companies navigating system consolidation.
  • Object-oriented programming experience in Java if Python/Node.js experience is limited.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $205,000 - $270,000 USD
