About the Team

AI is moving fast, and Stripe is moving fast to adopt it. The AI security team is responsible for building and partnering to create security primitives that enable Stripe to move quickly and safely.

The team works on low-level components of Stripe's AI stack, so infrastructure and security experience are valuable. This is a foundational role and would be the first engineering position on the team.

Responsibilities

Build security frameworks integrated with core AI infrastructure.
Design and implement defenses against AI-specific threats such as prompt injection and jailbreaks.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure AI infrastructure and products are built securely.
Support engineering teams in integrating security primitives.
Uphold high engineering standards and improve the codebase and development processes.
Design and build systems that help define the state of the art for AI security.
Partner with and advise teams building AI infrastructure and products.
Build a security tooling layer in the inference path to detect and protect against prompt injection, jailbreaks, tool misuse, and other AI-specific threats.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

5+ years of software development experience.
Experience independently designing and developing medium-to-large projects.
Experience working collaboratively across multiple engineering teams.
Experience writing high-quality code in a major programming language.
Ability to drive clear next steps in an ambiguous environment.
Ability to think creatively and reason clearly in a complex problem domain.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining reliable infrastructure systems.
Experience in security engineering.
Experience building AI agents or LLM-based systems.
