SpaceXAI is seeking a Data Science Tutor to enhance the capabilities of its AI systems by providing high-quality input and labels using specialized software. The role involves supporting AI task training, improving annotation tools, and selecting complex problems where data science expertise can improve model performance. The position requires adapting to evolving instructions and working effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Use proprietary software applications to provide input and labels for defined projects.
• Support the delivery of high-quality curated data.
• Contribute to the training of new tasks and collaborate with technical staff on the development and implementation of new technologies and initiatives.
• Help improve the design of efficient annotation tools.
• Interpret, analyze, and execute tasks based on provided instructions.

Requirements

• Be an IMO medalist or similar competition medalist, or possess a Master's or PhD in a data science-related field.
• Proficiency in reading and writing informal and professional English.
• Ability to navigate information resources, databases, and online resources.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong reading comprehension and the ability to exercise autonomous judgment when presented with limited data or materials.
• Passion for and commitment to technological advancements and innovation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• At least one publication in a reputable journal or outlet.
• Previous AI tutoring experience.
• Teaching experience as a professor, teacher, or tutor.
• Experience in technical writing, journalism, or a professional writing setting.
• Professional background as a Data Scientist.

Work Arrangement and Expectations

• Tutor roles may be full-time, part-time, or contractor positions, depending on role needs and candidate fit.
• Contractor hours vary based on project scope and availability, with no fixed commitments required. Most projects may involve at least 10 hours per week on average to achieve deliverables effectively, but this is not a fixed commitment. Contractors can set their own hours and determine the time needed to complete deliverables.
• Roles may be performed remotely from any location worldwide, subject to legal eligibility, time-zone compatibility, and role-specific needs.
• US-based candidates cannot be hired in Wyoming or Illinois.
• Visa sponsorship is not provided.
• Candidates working from a personal device must use a Chromebook, a Mac running macOS 11.0 or later, or Windows 10 or later.

Compensation and Benefits

• US-based candidates: $45-$75 per hour, depending on relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
