Details

As an early member of Anthropic's Finance Analytics and Business Intelligence team, you will establish robust analytics engineering and business intelligence capabilities for the Finance & Accounting organization. As a founding Data Scientist on the Finance Forecasting team, you will own revenue forecasting models that support capacity planning and board reporting, build backtesting and accuracy practices, and lead causal measurement work to determine how launches and events affect revenue.

The team is hiring for two positions, with candidates expected to lead primarily in either production time-series forecasting or causal inference.

Responsibilities

  • Own a core part of the team's modeling work, including production revenue forecasts or the causal measurement program for launches and events.
  • Scope, develop, backtest, deploy, and monitor models.
  • Build and run backtesting and accuracy tracking, including a cross-methodology accuracy baseline as a standing Finance metric.
  • Contribute to research on event-aware forecast architectures, hierarchical reconciliation, and causal designs for launch-driven step changes.
  • Translate model outputs and accuracy results into clear recommendations for Finance and executive leadership.
  • Partner with the Analytics Engineer on feature pipelines, model deployment, and the forecast store.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in data science, forecasting, or quantitative finance, including production ownership of models.
  • Deep fluency in Python and SQL, with the ability to productionize analytical work.
  • Strong applied statistics foundation, with depth in either production time-series methods or causal inference.
  • Experience with production time-series methods such as Prophet, ETS, ARIMA, gradient-boosted approaches, neural forecasting, or hierarchical reconciliation; or causal inference methods such as difference-in-differences, synthetic control, Bayesian structural time series, or event studies.
  • Experience building backtesting and accuracy-tracking practices.
  • Ability to present and defend forecasts or causal estimates to executives.
  • Bias for action and comfort working in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with exogenous-regressor or event-aware forecasting approaches.
  • Familiarity with hybrid or foundation-model forecasting, including TimeGPT-class systems.
  • Background in pricing and elasticity modeling or marketing-mix modeling.
  • Experience forecasting consumption-based or usage-billed businesses such as cloud, API, or marketplace businesses.

Benefits

Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and an office space for collaboration. Staff are currently expected to work from one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more in-office time.
