Technical Documentation and Content Engineer, Claude Docs

Details

You will own the documentation for Claude apps, including Claude.ai, Cowork, Claude Tag, and Claude Science. This role combines content ownership with systems engineering: you will define the documentation architecture and editorial standards while building automation that maintains quality at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the information architecture, style, and editorial standards of the Claude Docs site as a unified surface.
• Design, build, and run automated documentation systems, including self-healing pipelines, AI-assisted review and maintenance, and quality guardrails.
• Establish conventions and tooling that product teams can adopt to keep their documentation accurate and consistent.
• Establish and maintain the style guide, standard content types, and workflows for creating, reviewing, and publishing documentation.
• Curate contributions from across the company by editing for clarity and consistency, removing stale content, and integrating new content into the broader documentation system.
• Define and track measures of content quality and discoverability, using reader feedback and analytics to drive improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience at the intersection of documentation, user education, and software engineering.
• Knowledge of evaluation frameworks or observability for AI-powered systems.
• Experience guiding a documentation platform migration or redesign.
• Experience with content analytics and experimentation.
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, including version control, CI/CD, and testing.
• Excellent technical writing and editing skills, with the ability to establish and standardize a high-quality editorial bar.
• Experience establishing editorial standards and information architecture for a substantial technical documentation site.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Additional Qualifications

• Software engineering experience, including designing, building, shipping, and maintaining production tooling.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Experience building automated documentation or content systems, including pipelines, CI checks, and AI-assisted maintenance.
• Experience building AI applications or AI-powered tooling with large language models.

Work Arrangement

Anthropic currently expects all staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
