Anthropic is seeking a Data Scientist to join its growing Data Science and Analytics team and drive data-informed decision-making across the organization. The role will help shape data science practices and inform strategy as Anthropic deploys safe, frontier AI products at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product and user data to derive actionable insights and identify opportunities to improve products, strategy, and operations.
  • Develop hypotheses and apply causal inference methods, including controlled experiments and synthetic controls.
  • Investigate anomalies, perform root-cause analyses, and provide data-driven insights to guide priorities and decisions.
  • Define core metrics, build measurement frameworks, and maintain reporting to evaluate success.
  • Build statistical models, optimization frameworks, and simulations to automate decision-making and operational processes.
  • Present complex technical analyses and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Establish foundational data practices and help scale analytics infrastructure to support rapid iteration and decision-making.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles.
  • Deep expertise with Python, SQL, and data visualization tools.
  • Expertise in experimental design, causal inference, statistical modeling, and A/B testing frameworks, particularly in high-scale technical environments.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to create clarity and drive progress in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Passion for building helpful, honest, and harmless AI systems.
  • Some experience with AI/ML products, large language models, or developer tools in the AI/ML ecosystem.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The field of study must be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $285,000–$380,000 USD.

Work Arrangement and Logistics

  • Hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
  • Anthropic sponsors visas and states that it will make every reasonable effort to obtain a visa for candidates who receive an offer, with support from an immigration lawyer.
