Details

As an early member of Anthropic’s Safeguards Data Science and Analytics team, you will help build and scale a data-driven culture focused on developing safe and beneficial artificial intelligence. You will work with product, engineering, policy, and enforcement teams to define and measure company success metrics, analyze user behavior to identify enforcement opportunities, and develop and test hypotheses through experimentation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user behavior data to provide insights into safety concerns.
  • Define core metrics that measure the team’s success.
  • Set goals, build forecasts, monitor performance, and develop actionable reporting.
  • Identify and size opportunities to improve the product.
  • Influence the product roadmap through insights and recommendations.
  • Develop hypotheses for product changes, design controlled experiments, analyze results, and make recommendations based on their impact on key metrics.
  • Establish foundational data best practices and make data more accessible across the company.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools.
  • Bias for action and urgency, with the ability to avoid letting perfect be the enemy of effective.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and take initiative to create clarity and forward progress.
  • Curiosity and energy for investigating difficult questions.
  • Experience turning open questions and data into concise, insightful analysis.
  • Highly effective written communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for building helpful, honest, and harmless AI.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a field relevant to the role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles, preferably in an infrastructure or operations context.
  • 3+ years of experience deeply embedded in product teams.
  • Experience working on safety, anti-abuse, or integrity-related problems.

Work Policy And Sponsorship

Staff are currently expected to work from one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time. Anthropic sponsors visas for eligible roles and candidates and retains an immigration lawyer to assist with the process.
