Engineering Manager, Secure Development Engineering

The Information Security organization supports the security and protection of data for millions of users. The Secure Software Development Engineering team builds security products for engineers, including secure development frameworks, secure-by-default infrastructure products, and identity and access platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team building Airbnb's security products for infrastructure and product engineers.
• Own the roadmap for a portfolio of security products spanning secure SDLC, vulnerability management, infrastructure security, and platform identity.
• Drive product thinking by defining users, adoption metrics, and product deprecation strategies.
• Identify gaps in the company's security posture and shape them into initiatives for the team.
• Communicate engineering progress, impact, timelines, and leadership decisions.
• Resolve ownership questions between teams, including platform identity, agentic identity, and infrastructure policy.
• Develop senior and Staff engineers through sponsorship, hiring, promotion support, and coaching.
• Partner with infrastructure, product engineering, compliance, and other cross-functional teams.
• Establish a culture of operational excellence focused on quality, reliability, and availability.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience managing a software engineering team.
• 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Bachelor's and/or master's degree, preferably in computer science, or equivalent experience.
• Strong product and design instincts, with proven experience building well-designed user experiences.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across multiple engineering teams and with cross-functional partners.
• Flexible leadership style and the ability to adapt to different ways of working.
• Experience leading and shipping large initiatives with significant business impact.
• Experience shipping or operating security software engineering or infrastructure products that software engineering teams integrate with and depend on.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

The base pay range is $212,000–$265,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
