Role overview

You will join a team responsible for building ING’s next-generation Data Analytics Platform on Google Cloud. As a GCP Platform Engineer you will work in a multinational, distributed team delivering scalable, secure, and automated cloud solutions that enable data-driven innovation across ING. The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer IV”.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and maintaining ING’s Data Analytics Platform on GCP
  • Developing infrastructure automation services using Golang
  • Creating and maintaining cloud-native, scalable, and secure solutions
  • Supporting platform users and ensuring smooth onboarding of tenants
  • Improving and evolving key platform components and architecture
  • Implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting
  • Ensuring platform reliability, including participation in on-call rotations
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Hands-on experience building data platforms on GCP using services such as Cloud Run, Vertex AI, GKE, BigQuery, Dataproc, and GCS
  • Strong experience in Golang (must-have), particularly in building infrastructure or automation services
  • Infrastructure-as-Code mindset (Terraform required)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (e.g., Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of cloud-native architecture principles and infrastructure automation practices
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including VPC, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls
  • Solid understanding of secure authentication and encryption concepts (e.g., OIDC, KMS, SSL/TLS)
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts and contribute to design documentation and discussions
  • English language proficiency at B2 level or higher
