Details
NVIDIA is hiring a Growth Engineer to support DSX OS, its open source foundation for AI infrastructure. The role focuses on building open source governance, contributor tooling, community infrastructure, automation, and adoption processes that help engineering projects transition from newly public repositories to actively and sustainably developed communities.
Responsibilities
- Drive adoption of open source standard methodologies across multiple engineering teams.
- Partner with product teams to apply open source hygiene and governance practices in day-to-day work.
- Design lightweight governance models covering ownership, decision-making, maintainer roles, and contributor pathways.
- Grow active contributions from external participants, including code, documentation, and ideas.
- Provision and operate community infrastructure, including Slack, community meetings, and collaboration spaces.
- Develop and run 30/60/90-day post-launch plans addressing community, transparency, governance, marketing, and security posture.
- Design contributor workflows and first-pass review processes.
- Build isolated, contributor-safe CI for validating external pull requests without accessing internal infrastructure.
- Create end-to-end contributor paths covering starter issues, contribution guides, automated review, and PR quality checks.
- Monitor community health, track engagement, operate external events, and build automated program-health metrics.
- Convert readiness engagements into reusable playbooks for future projects.
Requirements
- 12 or more years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience driving adoption of open source practices across multiple engineering teams.
- Experience translating open source policies into practical day-to-day team processes.
- Experience designing open source governance, including contributor pathways, maintainer roles, and decision-making processes.
- Strong software engineering skills and experience building automation such as CI checks, pull request review tooling, and metrics pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor as part of an engineering workflow.
- Experience running open source community programs involving infrastructure, events, contributor engagement, and participation accountability.
- Ownership mentality and the ability to manage open source adoption and community development end to end.
Additional Qualifications
- Familiarity with open source repository practices, including README structures, contribution documentation, governance files, and issue templates.
- Direct experience contributing to or maintaining an open source project.
- Experience building spam or low-quality-submission detection, anti-abuse systems, moderation systems, or automated triage for open contribution surfaces.
- Experience producing or running technical events such as conference talks, workshops, or meetups.
- Technical writing experience for external audiences, including contributor guides, onboarding documentation, or public-facing project documentation.
Benefits
The role includes equity and benefits. NVIDIA offers a comprehensive benefits package and competitive compensation.
