About the Team

APAC Payments TechOps is a team based in Singapore. The team improves the health and resilience of Stripe's payment acquiring volume, enabling Stripe to build and operate integrations that support hundreds of billions of dollars in payments annually. The team partners with payments and platform engineering teams to identify systems and processes that create high operational workloads, then develops durable solutions through code, tooling, data, and process improvements. It is also responsible for the financial data quality of key Stripe systems, including quarantining data without impacting downstream systems and implementing upstream changes to prevent recurring issues.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with peer engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to execute complex technical projects.
• Provide meaningful feedback on code reviews and technical designs.
• Ensure operated systems continue running well and can scale to meet user needs.
• Develop the skills to own projects and eventually entire domains from beginning to end, including project management and technical leadership.
• Learn quickly by asking effective questions, working with managers and teammates, communicating work status clearly, and using the latest AI tooling.
• Build solutions to problems without clear precedent and solve challenges with far-reaching consequences.
• Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and collaboration with mentors or subject-matter experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a directly related field, obtained by summer 2027, or equivalent work experience with no more than 18 months of professional experience, excluding internships.
• Programming experience through side projects, coursework, internships, or professional work. Stripe primarily uses Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, but programming fundamentals and general knowledge are considered transferable to new languages.
• Experience from previous internships or collaborative, multi-person coding projects in a university or professional setting.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar systems through independent research and work with mentors or subject-matter experts.
• Clear written communication skills and the ability to explain work to stakeholders, teammates, and other Stripe employees.
• Ability to use AI tools to accelerate development while applying critical thinking and professional judgment to review, refine, and validate outputs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized knowledge in one or more areas such as frontend, backend, infrastructure, or other technologies, combined with broad technical skills and knowledge.
• Experience with code review practices and safely updating production systems.
• Familiarity with navigating and managing work in large codebases.
• Experience independently leading small projects and contributing to larger projects with peers.
• Ability to navigate complex technical obstacles independently, recognizing when to unblock oneself and when to ask for help.
