Details

The Growth team owns the mobile product loops that help users discover, adopt, and build lasting habits around Perplexity's AI experiences. As a mobile growth engineer, you will work across the full mobile funnel for Perplexity, Comet, and Computer on iOS, including installation, activation, onboarding, push and lifecycle messaging, conversion, retention, and in-app purchases. You will move quickly, run multiple experiments in parallel, and own projects end-to-end while working within mobile release cycles, app store review, and version fragmentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and own growth surfaces across the iOS mobile funnel, including installation, activation, onboarding, lifecycle messaging, conversion, retention, and paid upgrades.
  • Lead experiments end-to-end, from hypothesis and instrumentation through implementation, analysis, and rollout.
  • Build flag-driven and server-driven patterns that support experimentation without waiting for an App Store release.
  • Own in-app purchase and paywall surfaces, including billing integrations, subscription and credit purchase flows, entitlement correctness, and pricing and packaging experiments.
  • Build push and lifecycle notification experiences, including permission prompts, targeting, timing, deep links, and retention instrumentation.
  • Partner with web and design engineers to make onboarding, upsells, and in-task nudges consistent across web, iOS, and Android.
  • Partner with the Growth team to optimize app store performance and attribution.
  • Improve install-to-activation, D1/D7/D30 retention, notification opt-in and engagement, paid conversion, and habit formation using clean data and trustworthy experiment readouts.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, Monetization, Marketing, and the core Mobile team to translate behavioral signals into durable product surfaces.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional mobile engineering experience shipping consumer apps at meaningful scale on iOS.
  • Strong native iOS skills, such as Swift, SwiftUI, and Objective-C, with the willingness to work across other parts of the stack when needed.
  • Experience owning a full release cycle, including build and release tooling, phased rollouts, App Store review, crash and regression monitoring, and safe rollbacks.
  • Strong execution skills and the ability to ship multiple experiments and product improvements in parallel.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation platforms such as Eppo, Statsig, Optimizely, or in-house equivalents, especially in versioned apps.
  • Ability to pull, segment, and interpret funnel data for data-informed decision-making.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to translate user behavior and growth opportunities into simple, effective technical solutions.
  • Self-motivated, with strong ownership instincts and the ability to propose experiments and drive improvements independently.
  • Genuine interest in and adoption of AI products, with a willingness to learn quickly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience on a growth or experimentation-heavy team.
  • Deep experience with in-app payments.
  • Experience with mobile attribution and measurement platforms such as AppsFlyer, Adjust, or Branch, and with paid mobile acquisition.
  • ASO experience, including store listing experiments and localized metadata.
  • Comfort working with backend or web technologies to unblock end-to-end work.
  • Experience at a fast-growing startup or on a high-ownership engineering team.
