Product Designer, Growth

Anthropic is seeking a senior Product Designer to own growth for Claude's everyday work use, from first session through team and company-wide adoption. The role focuses on diagnosing barriers to habitual use, defining product direction, and delivering foundational product experiences rather than incremental optimizations. The designer will work in a fast-changing environment with product, engineering, and data science partners.

Responsibilities

• Own growth for how people use Claude in their everyday work, end to end.
• Diagnose what drives deep, habitual use and what prevents it by combining data, research, and hands-on product experience.
• Set an opinionated vision and create a roadmap with product management, engineering, and data science partners.
• Redesign core product experiences, including onboarding, first-run experiences, and everyday workflows.
• Develop hypotheses and experiments, interpret results, and make decisions using more than topline metrics.
• Deliver highly crafted interactions and set the quality bar for the area.
• Drive alignment across partner teams and connect individual usage with team and company adoption.
• Mentor other designers and frame problems clearly so others can take ownership.
• Prototype and test ideas quickly with Claude Code and other AI tools.

Requirements

• A portfolio of shipped product design work demonstrating product vision and a high level of craft.
• Experience owning growth for a major product area end to end, including diagnosing problems and setting direction.
• Deep growth design experience in activation, onboarding, retention, engagement, or expansion for a product at meaningful scale.
• Hands-on experience designing, launching, and interpreting experiments and using them to inform product decisions.
• Fluency with product analytics, including funnels, retention, and engagement.
• Proficiency with design, prototyping, and AI tools such as Figma and Claude Code, along with a habit of learning new tools.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience driving alignment across product, engineering, and data science.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The required field of study must be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading growth strategy across multiple teams or product areas.
• Experience designing enterprise or B2B SaaS, productivity, or collaboration tools.
• Experience with product-led growth from a single user to a team and company-wide rollout.
• Experience mentoring designers or shaping a design practice.
• Comfort querying data with SQL or a similar tool.
• Experience prototyping with front-end code such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
• Experience defining AI-powered workflows for yourself or your team.
• A clear point of view on when a product should ask for attention and when it should stay out of the way.
• Passion for building safe, beneficial AI.

Representative Projects

• Diagnose why some people make a product part of their daily work and lead changes to close the gap for those who drift away.
• Redesign a core product area to increase return usage and value.
• Set the vision for a product's first-run experience and lead experiments through to a permanent redesigned flow.
• Design the path from one person's daily use to adoption across their entire team.

Compensation

• Annual salary: $305,000–$460,000 USD.

Work Policy and Logistics

• The role is based in San Francisco, California.
• Anthropic expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more in-office time.
• Anthropic sponsors visas where possible and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications with an immigration lawyer.
