Details
OpenAI is building AI products for serious professional work. The Financial Services team works closely with customers to understand how AI can improve the economics and quality of financial work across investment banking, equity research, private equity, asset management, wealth management, insurance, and other areas of finance. The team combines OpenAI models, financial data, and enterprise knowledge to build products for financial professionals.
Responsibilities
- Own product strategy and priorities in partnership with the General Manager of Financial Services.
- Identify valuable customer problems and translate them into a clear roadmap.
- Conduct customer discovery with bankers, investors, analysts, and other finance professionals.
- Understand financial workflows, documents, trusted data, tools, and applicable standards.
- Build and ship working prototypes, demos, example outputs, and product requirements using Codex and other OpenAI tools.
- Partner with Engineering and Design to turn early concepts into reliable products and drive delivery through launch and iteration.
- Work with Research and Engineering to create evaluations, datasets, and model feedback based on real finance tasks and product failures.
- Define quality standards for accuracy, source traceability, completeness, ease of review, latency, reliability, and cost.
- Translate integration, data-access, privacy, security, and review requirements into product decisions.
- Collaborate with Legal, Security, Partnerships, core product, GTM, and customer-facing teams.
- Measure task completion, output acceptance, repeat usage, time saved, and business impact.
- Support pilots, onboarding, launches, adoption, and ongoing product improvement.
Requirements
- A track record of taking complex products from discovery through launch and sustained adoption as a product manager, founder, or builder with substantial product ownership.
- Strong understanding of financial work and the ability to earn credibility with demanding practitioners. Relevant experience may include building products for financial institutions or working in investment banking, investing, equity research, corporate development, or related fields.
- Strong product judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to make complex workflows feel simple and evaluate both user experience and output quality.
- Ability to work comfortably with engineers and researchers on model behavior, data quality, integrations, and evaluations.
- Ability to distinguish model limitations from data, workflow, or product-design problems.
- Deep use of AI in personal work and willingness to teach, onboard, debug, and inspect outputs alongside customers.
- Ability to select useful goals and metrics, test assumptions, and change priorities based on evidence.
- Sound judgment regarding privacy, trust, and accuracy in consequential professional work.
- Ability to take ownership in ambiguous situations, drive decisions across teams, communicate clearly, set direction, and remain close to the details required to ship.
