Details
GitLab is seeking a Renewals Strategy Manager to serve as a strategic partner to the Renewal Management and Customer Success teams. The role will turn complex data into clear decisions that improve customer retention and growth. Reporting to the Director of Customer Experience Strategy, with a dotted line to the VP of Global Renewals, this position owns renewal analytics and forecasting processes across direct and channel motions.
In the first year, the role will revamp global renewal forecasting processes in Clari, lead the Salesforce Renewals transformation initiative, build and maintain renewal health scoring models, and surface actionable insights to improve renewal performance and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Analyze weekly, monthly, and quarterly renewal pipelines across direct and channel motions to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
- Drive the global renewal forecasting process by integrating customer health insights and predictive analytics.
- Develop, refine, and maintain renewal health scoring models that identify early risk indicators and inform intervention strategies.
- Translate churn attribution, expansion patterns, and renewal performance data into actionable recommendations for Customer Success and Renewals leadership.
- Identify, design, and implement process improvements and automation to improve data quality, reduce manual effort, and increase operational efficiency.
- Partner with Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, IT, and Customer Experience teams to improve systems, data flows, and reporting.
- Create and deliver business reviews, dashboards, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Promote data-driven practices within the Renewals organization by sharing best practices, setting analytical standards, and supporting adoption of new tools and workflows.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with end-to-end renewals sales processes, customer success, revenue operations, and strategy and analytics roles supporting go-to-market teams.
- Experience driving strategic projects that improved renewal, retention, and expansion outcomes in a recurring-revenue or SaaS environment.
- Proficiency in SaaS, self-managed, and consumption renewal forecasting, pipeline analysis, and business analytics.
- Advanced Salesforce skills, including complex reports, dashboards, custom report types, and calculated fields.
- Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Sisense, Snowflake, Looker, or similar platforms.
- Experience with AI tools such as Glean and Claude.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills using SQL and Excel or Google Sheets for data modeling, trend analysis, and performance tracking.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex analysis to senior leadership in a clear and actionable way.
- Ability to influence without direct authority, manage cross-functional projects, and build collaborative relationships across teams and regions.
The Customer Experience Strategy team collaborates asynchronously with Customer Success Architects, Customer Success Managers, Customer Success Engineers, Renewals managers and leaders, CX leadership, and go-to-market partners across multiple regions. The team develops customer journey maps, voice-of-customer programs, segmentation and coverage models, and CX analytics to improve customer satisfaction, retention, and operational scalability.
