Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” As a Senior Analyst on the Risk Analytics team within the Consumer & Business group, you will own the identification and mitigation of account takeover (ATO) and scam risk across the Coinbase ecosystem. You will build defenses that protect users and platform integrity, using data to drive risk decisions affecting millions of customers. The role involves defining risk metrics, shaping prevention strategies, and partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to address evolving threats.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end risk controls for ATO and scam prevention, scaling processes to maintain coverage as the business expands into new products and regions.
• Define risk success metrics, build reporting frameworks, and drive continuous improvement by identifying and prioritizing control enhancements.
• Use data to assess risk and make decisions affecting large customer segments, measuring and quantifying associated trade-offs through rigorous analysis.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to develop custom risk management strategies and techniques across the Coinbase product suite.
• Synthesize data findings into clear narratives and recommendations that influence senior risk and product leadership decisions.
• Investigate and mitigate fraudulent and scam activities by reviewing alerts on anomalous customer and transaction behavior.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on risk experience in e-commerce or financial services, including at least 2 years focused on combating ATO and scams in a Fraud, Trust and Safety, or Account Security function.
• 2+ years of professional data analysis experience using SQL and Python, including work with large-scale databases.
• Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Superset for building dashboards and reporting frameworks.
• Ability to independently scope and deliver analytics projects while collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams.
• Familiarity with blockchain analytics and fraud trends within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

The annual base salary range is $167,280–$196,800 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
