Details

NVIDIA is seeking a Backend Compiler Engineer to join its GPU Software organization. The Compiler team constructs and emits high-performance GPU machine instructions for graphics technologies including OpenGL, Vulkan, and DirectX, as well as compute technologies including CUDA, PTX, OpenCL, Fortran, and C++. The team develops compiler capabilities for NVIDIA's complex parallel SIMT architectures and deep-learning compiler technology.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, modify, and improve NVIDIA's proprietary GPU compiler backend written in C++.
  • Design and develop new register allocation compiler passes and optimizations.
  • Produce robust, supportable, best-in-class compiler and tooling solutions.
  • Collaborate with global compiler, hardware, and application teams on improvements and problem resolution.
  • Contribute to deep-learning compiler technology spanning architecture design and support through functional languages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree, or equivalent experience; a master's degree or Ph.D. is highly desired.
  • At least 3 years of compiler code generation experience, preferably with LLVM.
  • Proficient hands-on C++ programming skills.
  • Strong background in software engineering principles, with a focus on creating robust and maintainable solutions to challenging problems.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant academic compiler-related project or thesis work.
  • LLVM code-generation experience, including instruction scheduling, software pipelining, register allocation, GlobalISel, TableGen, LLVM IR, and Machine IR (MIR).
  • Experience with compiler unit testing, intermediate representations, and visualization of intermediate representations.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary, equity, and benefits package. NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive work environment.
